On the afternoon of Aug. 11th, the 2017 Wuhan International Friendship City Summer Camp of Martial Arts and Culture was launched in the Academic Exchange Center of Jianghan University (JHUN). Thus, 41 teachers and students from international fraternal countries started their martial arts culture exchange trip with Chinese characteristics. Xu Yongyuan, Deputy Consul-General of the Consulate-General of South Korea in Wuhan, Lijun, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Wuhan Municipal People’s Government, Li Weidong, Vice President of JHUN, persons-in-charge of relevant departments in Wuhan and relevant organizations in JHUN and student representatives from the School of International Education attended the opening ceremony of the summer camp. The ceremony was hosted by Chen Kai, Deputy Dean of the School of International Education.
Vice President Li Weidong delivered his welcome speech. He hoped that the campers would learn about China, Wuhan and Jianghan University through the summer camp and make friends during the exchange and that campers would cherish the opportunity and actively get involved to make the camp a fortune on the road of life to motivate future study.
Li Jun, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Wuhan Municipal People’s Government, delivered a speech announcing the opening of the summer camp and conferred the camp flag. Summer camp, he said, is a specific action in response to the common initiative to strengthen exchanges among youths, which is an important part of exchanges among people and the hope with which friendship among countries can be maintained. He hoped that the campers understand the past, grasp the present, perceive future and deepen friendship during the process of close contact, culture transmission, mutual study, happiness enjoyment and presenting themselves.
Lee Sangchan, Chief Executive of South Korean Youth Cultural Exchange Association of Martial Arts delivered a speech. He hoped that the campers establish sincere friendship through the cultural exchange of martial arts to maintain constant exchange and communication. Jin Wanchan, Director of Asia Division of Foreign Affairs Office of Wuhan Municipal People’s Government issued Trainer Certificate for Overseas Student Groups in China to the teachers of JHUN, Yang Dian, Sun Jie, Liu Guoliang, Guan Cuiping and Qu Yifeng. Zheng Weiguo, Deputy Director of Division of Sports, Health and Arts of Wuhan Education Bureau, Yang Hancheng, Secretary General of Wuhan Association of Martial Arts, Li Wenhua, President of Wuhan Yucai No.2 Primary School and Lei Dongyuan, Chairman of Primary Section Labor Union of Wuhan Foreign Languages School presented school supplies to the teachers and campers. The campers’ representative Deyson Da Conceição Tavaresand the volunteers’ representatives Wang Jianli and Yang Dan delivered speeches respectively.
Students from Wuhan Yucai No.2 Primary School and students and campers from JHUN presented ethnic cultural performances at the opening.
