On Apr.23rd, the second phase of the “China Wuhan Story” Yu Xi international cultural exchange lecture series sponsored by the Foreign Friendship Association of Wuhan Municipal Government was held in the Yellow Crane Tower. The theme of this lecture was “Seeing a Picture Is like Reading a Book- Stories between Women and Youth Groups in Contemporary Chinese Oil Painting”. More than 100 persons, including officials from the consulate general in Wuhan, representatives from the institutions in Wuhan, foreign experts, international students and other foreign friends in China, attended the event. Twelve international students of our school led by relevant teachers of the Office of Foreign Affairs and the School of International Education participated in this event.
On the spot, Yu Xi interpreted the charm of Chinese oil painting vividly, and introduced the marriage, employment, psychology and other conditions of the Chinese women and youth groups in nowadays in a simply way from the detailed interpretation of paintings, to make the audience understand the Chinese culture and the status quo more intuitively at the same time of the appreciation of Chinese contemporary art. He also made an initiative to the audience, looking forward to the habit of reading developed in Chinese youth. He said: “reading in Mobile is not real reading. The initiative of reading a book quietly, in fact, is to change the habit of people to obtain knowledge.” Upon completion of the lecture, He presented the books “Exploration of Sister Cities by Yu Xi” and “Friend From Afar- Documentary Photography Collection of Wuhan’s 20 International Sister Cities by Yu Xi” written by himself after visiting Wuhan’s 20 international sister cities to the representatives of foreign friends in China. Various amorous feelings of Wuhan’s 23 international sister cities were also shown centrally in the event. The Yellow Crane Tower Luomeixuan Chime show was arranged to be watched freely too. The international students had all expressed they were benefited greatly.
Yu Xi is a senior reporter of the Changjiang Daily Newspaper Group, who has been presided over the brand news column “Yu Xi Top Talk” of the “Changjiang Daily” over the years. He is also a Guest Director of the CPAFFC, Member of the CPDA, Counselor of the People's Government of Wuhan, and an expert enjoying the special allowance of the State Council. Over the years, he has held more than 100 speeches of contemporary Chinese stories in form of folk communication in more than 60 countries facing the government, universities and all social circles taking advantage of his multiple identities as a journalist, painter, writer and photographer, which have a great vogue. He has published more than 20 international cultural exchange works, held more than 30 solo art exhibitions and photography exhibitions in every country, and published thousands of works with the theme of international cultural exchanges. He is a well-known folk international cultural exchange activist in China.
