At the noon on Jun.15th, in the J16B209 classroom, a national safety education lecture was held successfully in our school. The lecture faced all the teachers and students with a total of more than 100 persons, who would participate in the overseas short-term exchange programs of the United States, Britain, Ireland, Italy, France, Spain, South Korea, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, etc. this year. The relevant leaders and leading teachers of the Security Department, CPC Students Affairs Department, Youth League Committee, School of Foreign Studies, School of Design,School of Music, School of Physics and Information Engineering, School of International Education and other Departments and Schools attended the lecture. The lecture was mainly given by the Police Officer of the Hubin Police Station of Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone Branch of Wuhan Municipal Public Security Bureau Xiong Hongping, and presided over by the Deputy Dean of the School of International Education Chen Kai.
Huang Song, Vice Director of the Security Department pointed out that the consciousness of national security of Chinese college students group was relatively weak, and their social responsibility consciousness and national identity was to be strengthened. The college students are the key objects and bearers of the national security consciousness education and the national security education must be strengthened. Subsequently, Police Officer Xiong Hongping made a specific introduction for the students from three aspects, including the national security knowledge, case analysis and “Espionage Act”. Police Officer Xiong educated the students to strengthen the consciousness of confidentiality and prevention, and enhance the sense of security and mission to show the high quality of Chinese college students to the world from the cases occurred during the period of overseas study of the College students in recent years. Subsequently, the Police Officer Xiong made an in-depth explanation on the important provisions of the “Espionage Act”. With regard to the national security work, Police Officer Xiong put forward ten important recommendations. First, to maintain the national dignity of China and the reputation of the JHUN, to show the good image of Chinese college students; second, to comply with the laws and regulations of the country and region, comply with the disciplines and rules of the school, and seriously complete learning tasks; third, to understand the local social culture, strengthen the etiquette culture and respect the local religious customs; fourth, not to carry information related to state secrets, and not to release the contents related to state secrets; fifth, not to arbitrarily disclose their own family backgrounds and social relations to the strangers; sixth, not to arbitrarily talk about national policies; seventh, not to visit bars, casinos, dance halls and other entertainment places; eighth, to keep well the important certificates such as passports, identity cards, and prepare the electronic version and the copies; ninth, to grasp the location of the Chinese embassies and consulates in the country they were located, and pay attention to keep the communication unblocked; tenth, keep well their own parcels, and pay attention to personal privacy and health, and not to casually accept strangers’ articles.
The lecture had enhanced the national security consciousness, guard consciousness and confidentiality consciousness of the teachers and students, which had played a great help for the personal safety and physical and mental health of the teachers and students overseas.
