On the afternoon of Jan.13th, students from the 14th South▪KoreaCheongju Youth Refresher Class of Chinese completed the courses in our school. The commencement for completion of courses was held at No.101 Activity Room of the Teachers and Students’ Activity Center of our school.
An Chidon, a teacher ofSouth Korea Cheongju Industrial High School, teacher Park Huiming from Decheng Primary School of South Korea, all students from South Korea▪Cheongju Youth Refresher Class of Chinese, Vice President Li Weidong of our school, Director Jin Wanchan of the Asia Office of Foreign Affairs (Overseas Chinese Affairs) Office of Hubei Provincial People’s Government, and the leaders and teachers of the CPC Publicity Department, Teaching Affairs, Office of Foreign Affairs, School of International Education and other relevant departments participated in the commencement. The commencement was presided over by Deputy Dean Chen Kai of the School of International Education.
Vice President Li Weidong issued completion certificates and transcripts for all South Korean students and presented souvenirs to all teachers and students of South Korea. In his speech, he expressed his heartfelt congratulations for the outstanding achievements achieved by all the students in the Refresher Class. He also mentioned that the Chinese Refresher Class had built a platform for friendship between the Korean young people and teachers and students in our school, and also set up a bridge for mutual communication between Wuhan andCheongju City. China and South Korea would jointly ignite the torch of knowledge, to help the younger generation of our two countries communicate with each other better, work together to make contributions to create a nice and harmonious human society jointly.
At the commencement, the South Korean students showed their learning outcomes. They made self-introduction in Chinese, performed Chinese classical dance “Reading Poetry of Tang Dynasty”, played the famous Korean song “Dae Jang Geum” with Bawu, and sang a Chinese song “Little Luck” in the piano accompaniment. The Korean Student Representative Li Xiangmin said that it was his third time to come to China, and hoped that he could learn Chinese well to be a Chinese teacher in the future.
It was understood that there were 20 middle school students and 3 leading teachers in the South Korea▪Cheongju Youth Refresher Class of Chinese this time. They had been in our school for study and culture investigation for a period of 3 weeks , who learned the Primary Oral Chinese, China Profiles, Chinese Calligraphy and Painting , Chinese Folk Music, Chinese Folk Dance and other courses, experienced the Chinese culture in Chinese families, visited the Consulate General of South Korea in Wuhan and Wuhan Municipal People’s Government, visited major famous scenic spots of Hubei Province and Wuhan City, such as the Yellow Crane Tower, Red House, Hubu Lane, East Lake, Chu River Han Street, Jingzhou Ancient City, and also heard the Chime show in Hubei Provincial Museum.
It was the 14th time for the teenagers from Cheongju City to be organized to learn Chinese and Chinese culture in our school. Since the year of 2000 when Cheongju became a sister city of Wuhan, our school had successfully received more than 360 South Korean teenagers to study in our school.
