On 26 October, the 70th Session of Middle Level Cadre Training Class in the Universities of Middle and South of China visited our school, the symposium was held in Lecture Hall of Library in 6th floor. Professor Li Weidong, vice-president of the university, relevant leaders from Office of Teaching Affairs, Research Management and Services, Postgraduate Services, and Academician Expert Workstation attended this symposium. The symposium was chaired by Chen Kai, the member of the 70th Session of Middle Level Cadre Training Class of the Universities in Middle South of China, and the deputy dean of School of International Education.
In the meeting, Li Weidong, the vice president, gave a warm welcome to the leaders from this training class on behalf of Jianghan University(JHUN), and introduced the aspects of the university in terms of the setting of disciplines and departments, the structure of teachers, and the school running characteristics; he pointed that JHUN is a comprehensive ordinary institution of higher education, which is jointly operated by Hubei Province and Wuhan, and mainly supported by Wuhan. Its focus is to cultivate the high quality, innovative and international talents integrated with creative spirit and practice ability.
Li Jianmin, deputy director of Teaching Affairs, made a special report with the topic of comprehensive promotion of the reform and exploration of credit system with vision to improve the quality and with motivation for reform and innovation.He explained the topic from five aspects, including the necessity of the implementation of credit system reform, the initial condition to implement credit system, the preparation for credit system reform, the practice and results of credit system reform and work consideration of credit system reform.
Ding Jianjun, the deputy director of Research Management and Services, made the report on the construction of research platform of our university. He believes that the significance of research platform construction lies in the cohesion of subject characteristics, gathering of discipline talents, deepening of characteristic research, accumulation of original innovation research and promotion of social capacity of service.
Qian Tonghui, the director of Postgraduate Services, made the report on the development thoughts and measures for discipline construction of the university in the 13th Five-Year Plan. She points that the construction of disciplines is composed with three main clues, such as talents cultivation, scientific research and industrial application, and she hopes each school, scientific research platform and functional departments will jointly promote the new pattern of coordinated development of construction of disciplines, facilitate the upgrading and improvement of professional disciplines in new normal status.
Liang Yong, the director of the Institute of Environment and Health, introduced the construction of Academician Expert Workstation in our university. He made the explanation from various aspects, including the establishment background of the academician experts’ workstation, expert team, the establishment of academic committee, graduate student tutor, team construction, and operation mechanism, laboratory planning, research orientation, social services and the obtained breakthrough in projects.
Subsequently, the 70th Middle Level Cadre Training Class of Universities from Middle South of China visited the key laboratory in Ministry of Education of “photoelectric chemical materials and devices”, which is the jointly established by education department in provincial level, and experienced the golf sports in School of Golf.
