On December 22, JHUN International Students’ New Year Gala Night 2017 themed in “Hand in Hand, Build A Dream” held at J16A409#Studio, in order to further enhance the communication and exchange between international students and Chinese students of Jianghan University (JHUN), advance the cultivation of talents of “applicability, innovativeness and internationality”, encourage Chinese and foreign teachers and students to communicate in learning culture, highlight extensive and profound Chinese culture throughout the ages, and help international students in having better understanding of Chinese culture. Li Weidong, the Vice President of JHUN, attended and addressed the Gala Night. Relevant leaders and teachers from Publicity Department, Students Affairs Department, Youth League Committee, School of Foreign Studies, School of Music, School of Medicine and School of International Education also attended the Gala Night. The Gala Night was sponsored by School of International Education and organized by Colorful Wind International Student Union of School of International Education.
Firstly, Li addressed a speech in English, wished the Gala Night a complete successfully. The Gala Night was demonstrated in series mode with three characteristic scenes, i.e. Chinese & Foreign, Ancient & Modern, and Teacher & Student. During the Gala Night, the host not only served as an announcer, but also connected non-artistic performances in series, played an important role in conditioning atmosphere, on-stage interview, mobilizing mood, and controlling overall situation etc. The opening dance MY MAN caught students’ eyes once at the start; it’s themed in fashion, motion and innovation, showed the vigor and passion of youth. Subsequently, international students from various countries showed their own artistic talents. Azhar sang Let Me Love You; Abd sang The Moon Represents My Heart in Chinese; Gibbons performed a rap, showing original ecology character of Africa; Isaac showed a medley of songs; Pakistani students performed a group dance and T-stage show, shocking and stirring the audiences; Chinese students performed American dramas, sketches, dances, folk music and other shows. Interactive sessions full of variety were performed among shows, demonstrating lively and lovely teachers and students. In the end, Liu Zheng, a teacher of the School of International Education, sang Goodbye, Dabieshan, as the grand finale of the Gala Night.
The Gala Night not only breaks away from traditional song-and-dance performed in linear series, but also has more substantial shows through creation and adaption, differing from ordinary artistic performance in visual effect and highlighting international style.
