On February 29th, the opening ceremony of the 2016 Chinese Culture Refresher Course for Japanese exchange students was held in Meeting Room 105, School of International Education. Guests presented at the ceremony were Secretary Lei Wanzhong from School of International Education, Li Jianmin, Deputy Director ofTeaching Affairs, Deputy Dean Zeng Li from School of Foreign Studies, Deputy Dean Chen Kai from School of International Education, and five exchange students from Junior College and Oita University—— theMatsui Ryo, Umeda Naomi,Hino,Yamamoto Mao andKawaguchi Yoshinobu etc. The ceremony was presided over by Deputy Dean Chen Kai from School ofInternational Education.
On the opening ceremony, Deputy Director Li Jianmin of Teaching Affairs extended warm welcome to the 5 exchanges students from Japan and made an ebullience speech, in which he pointed out, Wuhan started a friendly city relationship with Ōita-ken in September 7, 1979. For the past 37 years, the Wuhan Municipal People's government has been attaching great importance to education and cultural exchanges between the two cities.Jianghan University signed in 1989 a friendly exchange agreement with Oita University, and has always insisted on the selection of outstanding students to go to Japan for exchange and learning. By now, there has been nearly a hundred students who have participated in the Oita University exchange programs. In 2012, our school signed 1.5+1+1.5 student exchange agreement with Art and Culture Junior College of Ōita-ken. Each year at least 5 Students from Japanese Language Department are sent to Art and Culture Junior College of Ōita-ken for one year study in Japanese language and culture.Deputy Dean Ceng Li from School of Foreign Studies pointed out in his speech that since 2013 when School of Foreign Studies was set up, the 2014 Chinese Refresher Course of Junior College in Ōita-ken and 2015 Chinese Refresher Course in Oita University have been carried out successively. This year, two Universities from Japan jointly selected 5 students for one month Chinese culture learning and wish they could enjoy their staying in Jianghan University.
The Chinese culture Refresher Course for Japanese exchange students in China is aimed at allowing Japanese students to experience Chinese type of social life through learning Chinese language, culture, and further deepening their understanding of China culture and society, promoting the development of Sino Japanese friendship and exchange courses. The exchange activities between students in our university and Japanese Universities will promote mutual understanding and communication of the both sides and will enhance their intercultural communication competence, as well as broaden their international horizons, laying the cornerstone for a better communication between the two universities.
