The 13th Chinese Class for Korea Cheongju’s Teenage Refresher was completed in our school on Jan. 14th.
Attending the graduation ceremony were a government official as well as a research student,a teacher of South Korea Cheongju Industrial High School, a teacher of Eum Sung High School, Korea,all the students of the Chinese refresher class, vice president of our university Zhang Ying, as well as leaders and teachers from Students Affairs Department, Teaching Affairs, School of International Education and other relevant departments. Vice president Zhang Ying issued certificates and transcripts for all Korean students, sending them souvenirs with Chinese characteristics.
At the graduation ceremony, vice president Zhang Ying made a passionate speech. She first expressed her warmest congratulations on the excellent results of all the students in the refresher class. She said: “It has been fifteen years since Cheongju established a sister city relationship with Wuhan. The Chinese refresher class not only provides a platform for South Korean teenagers to make friends with teachers and students in our university, but also builds a bridge of communication between the two cities.”
At the graduation ceremony, Korean students showed their learning achievements. They made self-introduction in Chinese, performed the Chinese national dance “Swan Goose”, played the Korean song “Call” with Bau and the girls collectively danced to the song “Little Apple”, which is full of Chinese modern sense. Afterwards, the boys also performed the combination of Korean dances.
Currently, the 20 middle school students from South Korea Cheongju’s teenage refresher class are known to have learned in our university for three weeks under the leadership of 3 teachers. During this period, they took courses such as a Survey of China, Elementary Spoken Chinese, National Dance, Folk Music, Chinese Calligraphy and Painting. They also went to local families to experience family culture and went to Wuhan Art School to put onexchange performances. Besides, they visited the Wuhan Science and Technology Museum, took a tour to the 10th China (Wuhan) International Garden Expo, enjoyed the performance demonstrating the Han culture and participated in some other cultural activities.
The current refresher class for Chinese is the 13th time for Cheongju to organize teenagers to come to our university to learn Chinese culture. We have successfully received more than 340 South Korean students coming around since 2000 since Cheongju and Wuhan established sister city relationship.
