On the morning of Jan.12th, a ceremony was held for the completion of the Fifteenth ROK Cheongju youth Chinese Language Class. The participants included Kim Eunbae, Director of ROK Cheongju Overseas Business Office, the heads from JHUN CPC Publicity Department, Educational Administration, Office of Foreign Affairs, and the School of International Education, the Korean teachers and students of the class, and the students volunteers from JHUN. The ceremony was hosted by Vice-dean of SIE, Chen Kai.
Liu Xiaoming, Administrative Vice Minister of the CPC Publicity Department, delivered a speech at the ceremony. He congratulated students for their outstanding achievements, pointing out that the class has played a significant role in providing a platform for the friendship between the youth from both countries, and in building a bridge for mutual communication between Cheongju and Wuhan. Now that a torch of knowledge has been lit by China and Korea, the younger generation of both countries will be able to better communicate and work jointly, contributing together to the building up of a harmonious world.
The class displayed their achievements in their study in various ways. Some introduced themselves in Chinese; some played cucurbit flute; some performed K-pop dance; and some others sang the Chinese song Meeting with You. Lei Wanzhong, SIE Secretary awarded the course-completion certificate and transcripts to the students,while other representatives presented Chinese style souvenirs to the teachers and students from Korea.
Altogether 20 middle school students participated in this year’s Chinese language class. They have spent 3 weeks in JHUN, learning the Chinese culture as well. The courses they completed include A Survey of China, Oral Chinese, Chinese Ink and Wash, Chinese Folk Music and Chinese Wushu and Tai Chi. During their time here, they were invited to Chinese families to experience Chinese culture. They visited the ROK Consulate-General in Wuhan and the Foreign Affairs Office of Wuhan Municipal Government. They also paid visits to some tourist attractions, like the Yellow Crane Tower, Hubu Lane, East Lake and Chu River and Han Street.
