On the evening of Jan.25th, 2018, the JHUN faculty members and students from both home and abroad gathered in the university’s academic exchange center to enjoy 2018 SIE Spring Festival Gala organized by SIE to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year. Vice-president Li Weidong gave a warm speech. The representatives present at invitation also included Deng Bo, Colonel from PLA Naval University of Engineering, Yu Xi, public diplomacy activist, as special guests, the related heads of the schools and functional departments, the students from SIE, and the student representatives from 2017 Short Term Foreign Exchange Program.
Vice-president Li said that the increasing enrollment of the university’sinternational students had greatly promoted internationalization of the university in the cultivation of professional talents of international standard and the construction of the international environment of the campus. The obtainment of the Hu Bei Provincial Scholarship for Chinese International Students by 5 international students from JHNU in 2017 has greatly encouraged the international students to be diligent and devoted in their studies. The future world is a globalized world and the world of the younger generation. Forty years have passed since the reform and opening-up policy andChina will become more open, more diversified, more inclusive, and more confident. He also wished for the success of the gala.
The gala included watching the advertising video Meeting with You shot for the 5th anniversary of the founding of SIE and the prize-giving ceremony of a series of awards given to the international students having outstanding performance throughout the past school year. There were exotic shows, dancing, singing and various performances including Aj Zid, African Swag, and others, displaying a deep international, exotic and campus flavor. The whole gala ended up with a special program presented by all the SIE faculty members.
Our university has always adhered to the goal of “Modern, International, and Ecological”set up by the Wuhan city, endeavored to produce students who are “Application, Innovationand Globalization”, and strengthened international exchange and cooperation, so that both faculty and students are able to obtain a more open mind and a more tolerate mindset, to better comprehend and integrate into the world, therefore hopefully becoming a pioneer of the future world.
JHUN has always adhered to the goal of “Modern, International, and Ecological” set up by the municipal government for the construction of Wuhan, endeavored to cultivate innovative professionals, professionals with practical skills and professionals qualified for international competitiveness, and kept strengthening its exchange and cooperation with international counterparts to help its faculty members and students to become more open-minded and inclusive to the future world. In doing so, they could better understand the world, then fit themselves in it and explore it.
