In the afternoon of September 20th, the Summing-up Meeting for Short-Term Overseas Study and Exchange Program 2018 was held in Conference Room 216 of the Administration Building. Vice-President Li Weidong, heads of relevant functional departments and teachers of the colleges, representatives of teachers and students participating in Short-Term Overseas Study and Exchange Program 2018 and representatives from the third parties attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Fang Yong, Deputy Director of the Office of Foreign Affairs.
15 student representatives from the groups participating in Short-Term Overseas Study and Exchange Program showed the achievements of the study. Through Short-Term Overseas Study and Exchange Program 2018, students got to understand the similarities and differences between Chinese and Western academic ways of thinking and classroom teaching methods, and experienced the strong academic atmosphere of world-famous universities. They not only improved their foreign languages skills and broadened their horizons, but also enhanced their perception of different cultures. Zhang Congmei, the leader of the group participating in the Dragon Boat Festival Uganda and the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Physical Education, made a speech as a representative of the leading teacher, reporting that the delegation sent by Jianghan University (JHUN), who represent Wuhan, has participated in the second Dragon Boat Festival Uganda and got the championship. The Office of Foreign Affairs and theSchool of International Education have summarized the overall performance of Short-Term Overseas Study and Exchange Program 2018.
Finally, Vice President Li Weidong gave a speech, congratulating the delegations on their successful completion of the study and exchange tasks, and expressing his gratitude to various departments, schools and third-party organizations in JHUN for their support. He pointed out that the students have broadened their horizons in studying and communicating outside the country, learned how to think, and built new plans on the path of life. The students have experienced the achievements of the world’s outstanding civilization, seen the progress and changes made in the motherland, and enhanced the national self-confidence and pride. He expressed that he hoped students to share their study experience with their classmates and bring their international vision and ideas to other students. In combination with JHUN’s “Double First-rate” construction, he pointed out that JHUN should further highlight the training of applied and innovative talents with international vision, strengthen cooperation in running schools, introduce overseas high-quality educational resources, select outstanding students to go abroad for exchanges and further study, and enhance the degree of internationalization.
