From June 7th to 10th, Southeastern Region Tournament of 3rd China Exploration: Sports & Culture Tour for Overseas Students in China was held at Jiangsu University. Leaders and guests, such as Zhang Ailong, Deputy Secretary-General of Joint Secretariat of the Student Sports Association of the Ministry of Education and Full-time Vice Chairman of the SCVC, Zhang Lili, Director of the Division of Sports Health and Art Education of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and Vice President and Secretary General of the Jiangsu Student Sports Association, Gu Kai, Principal Staff Member of the Division of Sports Health and Art Education of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, Han Xiaojie, Deputy Director of the International Division of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, Yan Xiaohong, President of Jiangsu University and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Mei Qiang, Standing Committee Member of Jiangsu University Party Committee and Vice President of the School as well as representatives from colleges and universities in Shanghai, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei, Anhui, Fujian and Guangdong provinces attended the event.
Our team has won the auditions previously held in Hubei Division. With the support of the School of Physical Education, the team, led by Lei Wanzhong, the secretary of the Party Committee of the School, has overcome difficulties such as the small number of students, heavy study tasks and short preparation time, and participated in the Southeastern Regional Tournament with 3 coaches, 9 international students and 2 Chinese students. In the sports and art presentation held on June 8th, the fan dance of “Loyalty to Serve the Country” compiled by Jianghan University (JHUN) integrated the elements of Chinese Kung Fu, showing the improvement of our international students both physically and mentally. They were of great vitality with the overwhelming strength to win, and were well received by the referees. In the Basketball 3V3 held on June 9th, our team, composed of Fu Zhaoyang, a student of the School of Physical Education and international students, carried forward the spirit of dare to fight, played hard against the opponent in many games, and finally ranked fourth in the group stage. In the orienteering competition on June 10th, the team, consisting of international students and Li Jinfeng, a student from the School of Physical Education, successfully searched out all the checkpoints in accordance with the lines and sequences plotted on the orienteering maps, and managed to complete the tasks assessing contestants’ Chinese cultural knowledge, such as filling the blank in the Chinese idioms or selecting characters according to Chinese Pinyin, as well as sportive tasks, such as kicking shuttlecocks, placing chess and so on.
The China Exploration: Sports & Culture Tour for Overseas Students in China is a cultural event brand created for nearly 500,000 foreign students in China, which is hosted by the Ministry of Education and organized by the China University Sports Association. The event, based on sports events and taking cultural performances as a link, showcases the healthy, positive, confident and united images of overseas students and Chinese university students, and strengthens the friendly exchanges between China and the rest of the world.
