On May 21st, Jianghan Unversity (JHUN) sent for the second time the team composed of international students and Chinese students to participate the “3rd China Exploration: Sports & Culture Tour for Overseas Students in China (Hubei Division)” held at Wuhan Sports University, and competed against teams from Wuhan University, Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan Sports University in the same field. Our team won the third place in the Basketball 3V3, the sixth place in orienteering, the eighth place in the sports art exhibition and the third place in the group total score, even in face of the difficulties of small number of students, heavy study tasks and short preparation time. The team will represent Hubei Province to join the Southeastern Region Tournament of the Tour held in Jiangsu University in early June.
Participating in the China Exploration: Sports & Culture Tour for Overseas Students in Chinais what JHUN has done to implement the spirit of National Outline for Medium and Long-term Education Reform and Development (2010-2020), enrich the sports and cultural life of overseas students in China, showcase the healthy and positive image and young posture of international students in China, promote foreign students’ comprehensive understanding of China, and realize the exchange and integration of Chinese and foreign students through teamwork among them. JHUN selected Lei Wanzhong, the Secretary of the Party Committee in the School of International Education, to lead three coaches, and athletes of eight international students and two Chinese students who were all carefully selected.
The competition was hosted by the Hubei Provincial Department of Education and organized by the Wuhan Sports University, which upheld the concept of “taking sports as the platform and culture as the performers, and realizing integration between China and foreign countries through teamwork”.
